Call for Volunteers to join DCDSB's Advisory Committee on Anti-Black Racism

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As part of the Durham Catholic District School Board’s Anti-Black Racism Strategy and commitment to Excellence, Equity and Engagement, we are creating an Advisory Committee focused on addressing anti-Black racism, and promoting Black excellence and success. This Committee will focus on issues and topics surrounding anti-Black racism, while promoting Black excellence through the exploration of Black voices, scholarships, histories, presence, achievements and access to opportunities.

We are currently seeking volunteers with a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-oppression and dismantling anti-Black racism to join the Advisory Committee. The Working Committee will comprise of community stakeholders, students, staff, parents and guardians.

The Advisory Committee will be chaired by our Senior Manager of Equity, Anti-Racism and Engagement, Margaret Brimpong. Members will attend Advisory Committee and Subcommittee meetings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. that will alternate monthly. The first main meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 30, 2021from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Future dates for the remainder of this year and for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year will be discussed at the first meeting.
